Today marks exactly 100 days since the new pier in Terminal 1 (T1) began operations on April 21, 2026. Since then, approximately 1.5 million passengers have used the pier’s new arrival and departure areas, and they have been delighted. With its comfortable gate and waiting areas, inviting dining and retail spaces, and optimized processes, the expansion is setting new standards and significantly contributing to the airport’s future.

Currently, up to 20,000 passengers a day use the new T1 pier and the services of 37 airlines flying to 48 destinations in 23 non-Schengen countries in Europe, Africa, North America, the Middle East, and the Far East.

At the heart of the pier is a central marketplace featuring around 20 retail, service, and dining options. A special highlight is Munich Airport’s first “walk-through duty-free” area. Restaurants and shops are seamlessly integrated into the architecture and passenger flow, making shopping, dining, and relaxing an integral part of the travel experience. Natural materials, warm colors, and clean lines combine Munich’s urban flair with inspiration from the Bavarian countryside, creating a modern atmosphere with a distinctive regional character.
