Two major electronics fairs to open next Sunday

Showcasing the latest trends, products and innovations

4 October 2024 – The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will host four major technology fairs this October, including two major electronics exhibitions. The Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and electronicAsia will take place on 13-16 October at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). 

These two fairs will feature some 3,200 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions, showcasing a wide array of electronics, including smart products and appliances for home and commercial use, audio-visual equipment and cutting-edge technological solutions. 

These events position Hong Kong as a leading global trading hub for electronic products, while fast-tracking the city’s progress towards becoming an international centre for innovation and technology centre.

This year, the Electronics Fair will unveil the Digital Entertainment Experience Zone, featuring cutting-edge entertainment products. Other highlights include the Hall of Fame, which shines a spotlight on globally acclaimed brands, the Tech Hall, which presents technological innovations, and the Start-up Zone showcasing promising new ventures.

The fair will also feature forums, seminars and activities. These will include the Symposium on

Innovation & Technology, jointly organised by the HKTDC and Hong Kong Electronics &

Technologies Association, which is scheduled for 14 October. Esteemed industry leaders, including

Michael Kwok, Chairman of the East Asia Region of Arup; Kenneth Fung, R&D Director of ASMPT Limited; Justin Chuang, Vice President of ASTRI; Kathy Hayashi, Director of IEEE Region 6; and Wan-chi Siu, Emeritus Professor of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Hong Kong Polytechnic University, will discuss how simulations and predictions in the virtual world can enhance decision-making and productivity.

Symposium on Innovation & Technology Date: Monday, 14 October  Time: 10:30am-12:45pm

Venue: Theatre 1, HKCEC, 1 Expo Drive, Wan Chai, Hong Kong Language: English, with simultaneous translation in Putonghua  Media representatives are requested to present their work identification or business cards at the media registration counter, located outside Hall 1D of the HKCEC or at the Media Centre, located at 1 Expo Drive, HKCEC, for registration. Press badges will be issued on-site.

Symposium on Innovation & Technology: This event, themed When Two Worlds Collide: The Confluence of Digital Twins & Real-Life Applications, will discuss how simulations and predictions in the virtual world can enhance decision-making and productivity delve into hot topics, such as deep learning and wireless communication. Tony Wong, Commissioner for Digital Policy of Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau’s Digital Policy Office will give the opening address. ● The Hong Kong Electronic Forum : This session will explore microelectronics, AI and opensource ecosystems. Speakers include: Sandra Engle, Head of Sector Group Productronics at Mechanical Engineering Industrial Association (VDMA); Kevin Yang, Senior Expert at Bosch Corporate Research Asia Pacific; Volker Paper, Supervisory Board Member at Viscom SE; Professor Ray Cheung from the Department of Electrical Engineering at The City University of Hong Kong; and Dr Humphrey Leung, Vice Chairman of the Hong Kong Electronic Industries Association.
