Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences announce the commencement of nominations for Hamdan-ICESCO Prize for Voluntary Development of Education Facilities in Islamic World

Dubai, UAE, 8 February 2024: TheIslamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences have announced the commencement of applications for the Hamdan-ICESCO Prize for Voluntary Development of Education Facilities in Islamic World.

Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General and CEO of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences, stated: We are pleased to open the door for nominations for Hamdan-ICESCO Prize for Voluntary Development of Education Facilities in Islamic World for the year 2023 – 2024. This initiative comes within the framework of partnership and collaboration between The Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences.

He added: “Through this partnership, we aim to identify and honor initiatives and entities contributing to the development of educational facilities in the Islamic world, and to encourage voluntary organizations to contribute to the development of the education system in the Islamic world by focusing on the development, rehabilitation, and construction of educational facilities.” He emphasized that this aligns with the visions and objectives of our wise leadership in the United Arab Emirates, which aim to enhance education and ensure its quality by unifying efforts and collaborating with all relevant institutions in the region and around the world to achieve the goals and provide the necessary support to advance education and expand its activities in support of academic excellence.

Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi extended the invitation to all targeted entities to participate in the prize and submit their projects, wishing them success in their efforts to develop education. He also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the organizers of the prize at ICESCO and Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Medical and Educational Sciences for their continuous efforts in working towards the success of the prize in achieving its objectives.

On her part, Marwa Sahrawi, Director of Educational Excellence Department at the Foundation, stated that the activities of the prize will commence this February, starting with the acceptance of participation applications. The Foundation will also organize informational workshops in April for those interested in participating and in need of detailed explanations and clarifications. The deadline for submissions will be August 28th of the current year. She further added that the judging process will begin in September of the current year through a team of international arbitrators, and it is expected that the results will be announced by the end of the current year.

It is worth mentioning that Hamdan-ICESCO Prize for Voluntary Development of Education Facilities in Islamic World. was launched in 2017 in collaboration with Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO). One of its goals is to motivate and honor those involved in voluntary initiatives and charitable work in the field of education, as well as to encourage voluntary efforts to develop new educational facilities. Additionally, it aims to enhance the educational infrastructure and educational facilities in the Islamic world. The prize targets charitable organizations, voluntary institutions, donors, and contributors.
