Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) and Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation announce the opening of nominations for the 26th cycle of their Awards at the Gulf level

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 4 May 2023: The Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS) and Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance have announced the opening of nominations for the 26th cycle of the Hamdan Awards at the Gulf level.

The Foundation is now accepting applications from interested parties in Gulf countries through its website until September 8th.

The Hamdan Awards at the Gulf level include three categories: the Distinguished School Category (AED 100,000) which recognizes schools whose students achieve outstanding academic and behavioral results at both the Gulf and international levels, the Distinguished Teacher Category (AED 60,000) which rewards teachers who demonstrate exceptional professional and subject competencies, and the Distinguished Student Category (AED 30,000) which covers academic and non-academic fields.

In addition, interested participants from the Gulf countries are also invited to participate in Hamdan Foundation Awards including “Hamdan-ALECSO Award for Distinguished Educational Research”, “Applied Research Global Award of Gifted Education” and “School Global Award Initiative of Gifted Education”.  

His Excellency Director-General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States (ABEGS), Dr. Abdurahman Mohammed Al-Asmi, praised the launch of the 26th edition of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance Awards. He said, “The awards aim to shed light on outstanding educational institutions, honor distinguished teachers, benefit from their experiences, apply and disseminate exemplary practices, and identify and honor outstanding students from the GCC countries. Through these awards, the goal is to enhance cooperation and knowledge exchange in the education sector among different GCC countries, educators, teachers, and students. Through these awards, we seek to enhance collaboration in the education sector among the different GCC countries, and to exchange knowledge and expertise between educators, teachers, and students with the ultimate goal of improving education outcomes in the region.”

Commenting on the launch of the 26th cycle of the foundation’s Gulf awards, His Excellency Dr. Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation for Distinguished Academic Performance, said: “We are pleased to announce the launch of the 26th cycle of the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation Awards for Distinguished Educational Performance, across various categories in the Gulf region. These awards have proven their pivotal importance and essential role over the years, since their inception by the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum (may God have mercy upon him), in recognizing and highlighting distinguished students, teachers, and institutions and honoring them for their achievements and contributions. Furthermore, these awards have supported innovators and creators in their endeavors, to the extent that our talented students are now showcasing their works and ideas on the world’s most prestigious platforms. This aligns with the vision and objectives of the wise leadership, which seeks to support innovators and excellence in all fields as they represent the core of future scientists, thereby enhancing the UAE’s position as a hub for creativity, innovation, and technology.”

His Excellency added, “This year, we are looking forward to a larger participation, and we invite all those interested and eligible to participate and submit their entries to win the awards and highlight their projects, turning them into tangible reality and harnessing them for the service of society.”

Dr. Al Suwaidi concluded his remarks by praising the bilateral cooperation with the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States in supporting and enabling programs and projects that enhance education in member countries and promote a culture of educational excellence as well as sharing best educational practices in line with the highest global quality standards.

The past 25th edition of the Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Foundation Awards on the Gulf level witnessed a significant turnout, with 77 participants competing for the awards, out of which 14 emerged as winners. Among the participants, 37 students from public education took part, with 20 in the academic field and 17 in the non-academic field.
